The Black Sun

One of the most symbolically rich and most abused symbols in Western esotericism. Its roots reach back to Mesopotamia, Egypt, the alchemical tradition and the Norse cosmological framework. Its theft by the SS does not erase what it meant before — but it cannot be ignored either.

An important note on context: this section documents the Black Sun's genuine esoteric history across multiple traditions — its pre-Nazi origins, its alchemical, Vedic and Norse dimensions, and its cosmological significance. It also documents the Nazi appropriation fully and honestly, because that history cannot be separated from how the symbol is perceived today. Understanding a symbol's full history — including its theft and misuse — is not endorsement. It is scholarship.

The symbol predates National Socialism by millennia. Recovering its original meaning requires confronting what was done to it — not avoiding that confrontation.
