Rider-Waite Tarot Reference

All 78 Cards
Complete Guide

A complete reference for the Rider-Waite tarot — all 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cards with upright and reversed meanings, astrological and numerological correspondences.

The Rider-Waite Tarot (1909) illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith under Arthur Edward Waite's direction is the most widely used tarot deck in the Western world. Each card carries rich symbolic imagery rooted in Hermetic Qabalah, astrology, numerology and alchemy. The 78 cards divide into the Major Arcana (22 cards, 0–XXI) representing universal archetypes, and the Minor Arcana (56 cards in four suits) representing everyday life.

Major Arcana

The 22 Major Arcana represent universal archetypes and soul-level lessons. When Major Arcana appear in a reading, they signal significant, fated influences at work. They map onto the Fool's Journey — the soul's path from innocence (0 · The Fool) through experience to enlightenment (XXI · The World).
