Feng Shui — The Art of Placing Life

For over three thousand years, Chinese civilization has understood that the arrangement of space affects the people who inhabit it — that where you sleep, how your door faces, what flows past your window and what sits on your desk are not neutral facts but energetic relationships. Feng shui is the systematic study of these relationships: a cosmology, a design philosophy and a practical toolkit that begins with the movement of qi through the landscape and ends with where to put the mirror.

This section covers both the traditional Chinese system — with its philosophical depth, multiple schools and centuries of refinement — and the practical application that makes feng shui immediately useful. Where Western commercial feng shui has simplified or distorted the original, we say so. Where the traditional system is genuinely complex, we do not pretend otherwise.

The Two Great Schools — Form and Compass
The Form School reads the landscape — mountains, water, the four celestial animals (dragon, tiger, tortoise, phoenix). The Compass School reads directions, degrees and numbers. Understanding both is understanding feng shui — and understanding why they sometimes contradict each other.

Flying Stars — Feng Shui in Time
The most sophisticated and least understood school — Flying Stars adds the dimension of time. A building's energy changes based on when it was built, the year, and the interaction of directional and temporal stars. What most Western feng shui books never mention.

The Command Position
The single most important feng shui principle: where you spend your time, you should be able to see the door without being in line with it. How this applies to the bed, the desk and the stove — and what to do when your layout makes it impossible.

Space Clearing & Clutter
Before any feng shui adjustment works, stagnant energy must be moved. Clutter is the number one feng shui problem in Western homes — not because it is messy but because it holds the past in place. What space clearing actually is, how to do it, and why decluttering is the most powerful feng shui tool available.
