Mysterious Places

Eighteen places that have accumulated more mystery than their documented history can fully explain — a forest grown on 9th-century lava, a Nevada air base only declassified in 2013, a hole in the ground that has killed six people looking for treasure that may not exist. Some of these mysteries are solved. Some are actively being solved right now. A few remain genuinely, honestly open.
